Tayla Harris shares the adversity she faced through online trolling after the infamous 'kick photo'. In this conversation Tayla opens up on the key thing that got her through those challenging times and how her tribe was critical in supporting her through the adversity she faced. We LOVED this RUOK day conversation.
Tayla Harris is a dual-sport athlete, competing in both boxing and AFLW. Harris boasts an undefeated record of seven wins and one draw as a professional boxer and she holds two weight division titles as an Australian Champion. A superstar of the AFLW, she is a three-time All Australian, two-time Mark of the Year winner and was Carlton’s leading goalkicker three years in a row between 2018-20 and she made the move to the Melbourne Football Club following the 2021 season. Harris was subjected to online trolling after the now infamous ‘kick photo’ was posted to social media. She showed great maturity in speaking out and is now part of a movement to raise awareness of issues including violence against women and children, trolling and online bullying. She was recognised for her work and positive impact in this field winning the 2021 Young Victorian of the Year Award. A household name at only 24-years-old, Harris was named as 29th Most Powerful Person in Australian Sport as the youngest athlete on the list from The Herald Sun and is the subject of an Amazon Prime Video documentary, Kick Like Tayla.
